August 2018 Phoebe Meeting at Marcella's

Caroline was the proud winner of the drawing this month. She won this soft-as-a-cloud beautiful sweater knitted by Mary. What a wonderful way to keep warm on a cold winter's day!

September 15, (Saturday), Phoebe Meeting at Rosie's, (1 to 3 P.M., Special Planning Meeting; 3 to 4:30 P.M., Show and Tell). The small chair challenge will be due. Make a small chair from any medium or material.

Now through September 9, "The World of Frida" at the Bedford Gallery at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek. Don't miss this fabulous celebration celebration of the culture, style and persona of visionary painter Frida Kahlo. Go to for details.

September 21 and 22, Bewitching Fete. For the second year, a new version of Halloween and Vine will take place at the Veteran's Building, 301 Main St., Pleasanton, featuring fabulous Halloween art and gifts. For times and details go to

October 18, (Thursday), Yearly Potluck Party and Gift Exchange, (6:30 to 9 P.M.), Christ Episcopal Church, Alameda. Bring a sweet or savory dish to share, and a gift if you are participating in the exchange.

November 11, (Sunday), Phoebe Day Meeting, (1 to 4:30 P.M.), at Marcella's Home. We are not meeting at ReCrafter's after all!

November 15, (Thursday), Leslie Keeble's "Diminutive Frida" Doll Workshop, (9 to 4 P.M.), at Michael's at Union Landing.
Show and Tell

Elizabeth took a sculpting class in Grass Valley offered by Deborah Bridges. She has put long hours into this amazing sculpture entitled "Paul," which was modeled from a photograph. What a gifted sculptress!

Jo shared another of her "Nasty Woman" quilted squares. So clever and colorful!

Jo also brought this small stump cloth doll she recently created. Wonderful!

Marcella bought this doll she purchased from Kathleen Walmsby at the Doll and Bear Show in Pleasanton. It is made from polymer clay. So cute!

Here is another example of Mary's beautiful knitted garments. The lovely colors and the soft yarn make it a delight to wear.

This adorable doll was made by Suzanne. The combination of whimsical prints are perfect! Great job!
