Happy New Year!

I hope that your holidays were filled with joy and good friends. Now that the holidays are behind me for one more year, I can start focusing on my art without worrying about getting gifts done for friends and family. Of course I would have gotten more things done if I was not the worst procrastinator in the world. My New Year resolution is to play more and try to be more proactive!

We have an exciting January lined up. Our meeting on January 19 will be in a new location. We have been looking for a quieter space to hold meetings and are going to try the Girl Scout’s Hayward Cabin and see if that will meet our needs. Please make sure to read the full directions below on how to get there and mark your calendars so you do not forget. Also, we have the free event for associate members at the Boy Scout’s headquarters during the day. I’ve heard that we have 25 people signed up. Thanks to all the wonderful teachers who have volunteered their time to make this event amazing!

I look forward to playing dolls with you all in the coming year and sharing our knowledge with each other.                                                        Laurie

New Meeting Place

For the January Phoebe Associates Meeting and the regular February Phoebe’s meeting, we will be trying out a new location!  We will meet in the Girl Scout’s Hayward Cabin—a rustic gem set in a quiet redwood grove behind the Hayward Municipal Plunge. The room has a great heater, an attached kitchen and restroom—and best of all—no basketball being played next door! Hopefully we will all like it.

To get there: Proceed to the entry driveway for the Hayward Plunge at 24176 Mission Blvd. Enter the parking lot and immediately turn left. At the end of the building, turn right.

Straight ahead you’ll see a small road curving uphill. Take this road. It is the cabin driveway. At the top is the cabin with parking for 15 cars. Once this is full, you can park behind the plunge and either walk up the road, or we’ll send a “shuttle” for you.

April Class
Our April workshop will feature Mary Porter Vaughan’s bodacious goddess. Mary has had years of experience working with recreating the human form... and this one can be posed for either sitting or standing. The goddess is the epitome of saftig—voluptuous—ample in hip, belly and breasts!

Plan on spending a day of fun sewing with us on April 19 at The Boy Scouts of America Building at 1001 Davis Street in San Leandro. Workshop set-up is at 9 A.M. and class begins at 9:30. Contact Colleen Patell at colleen.patell@gmail.com if you are interested in the workshop. Cost is $40. Make checks payable to The Flying Phoebes.
