May 2018 Meeting

The May meeting consisted of a Stitch'n for Kids outreach sewing workshop from 12:30 to 4:30 P.M. A large turn-out of Phoebe volunteers sewed and assembled over 50 completed tiny crinkle-paper filled flannel squares adorned with ribbon loops that babies at George Mark's hospice love to play with. Others Phoebes worked on doll quilts or brought ones they had completed at home, like the two colorful ones above sewn by Marcella. There are many more assembled crinkle kits ready to be completed. All Phoebes are invited to participate. A short meeting with show and tell followed from 4:30 to 6 P.M.

Show and Tell

Caroline finished her shadow-box flat doll from Betts' workshop.

As did Jennifer. Both are exquisitely beautiful. Betts' workshops are always an amazing experience. Thank you, Betts.

Bonnie had a great time making a "loaded envelope" inspired by Zanaib's recent enrichment demonstration and challenge. It's an assortment of pockets filled with fabulous embellishments and tags, all original handmade objects.

Bonnie also made a brown paper bag booklet featuring individual pages decorated with stamping, graphics, and a wonderful assortment of notions.

Bonnie loves hearts and her newest heart-themed creation is this lovely fabric bead and button necklace, which includes two safety pins. So clever!

Rosie and her husband recently took a vacation to Florida, where they spent some time with Judy and her husband. Rosie and Judy took a painting class, and Rosie passed along this photo of Judy's oil painting. They really enjoyed the class.

Marcella attended the recent Bear and Doll Show in Pleasanton and couldn't resist purchasing this ornament, one of many made by a Russian artist for each 2007 NIADA Conference attendee. It is truly a treasure!

Our meeting included a raffle of wonderful items, including these dolls won by Betts.
