Calendar Of Events 

March 1, (Thursday), Set up library display. Contact Suzanne if you would like to help. 

March 15, (Thursday), Phoebe Meeting, 6:30 to 9 P.M., Alameda County Education Building, Hayward. The challenge due this month is a hand-crafted doll inspired by food. Also, if possible, please bring some cards you have made to contribute to Sunshine mailings. Enrichment will be "loaded card-making" led by Zanaib.

March 17, (Saturday, 11 to 1) Outreach Make-It and Take-It at the Castro Valley Library. Volunteers are always appreciated, Contact Diane for info.

April 19, (Thursday), Betts Vidal Shadow Box Workshop, 9:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Alameda County Education Building, Hayward. Remember to buy your 12"x12"x1" shadow box before class and bring $$ for class fee.

Challenges

Here are a few close-ups of items from the tube exchange. This doll with tube legs and arms was received by Linda.

Marjorie received a wonderful bracelet made from a paper tube and adorned with fibers, beads and jewels.

Here are other objects Shawn has made—dolls with tube bodies and hair made from soft rubber scrunchies.

Harlene was the winner of this adorable spool doll with tubular arms and legs. 

Colleen brought a doll she had previously made. It's costume features beautiful sleeves made with tubes of fabric.

Show and Tell

Colleen has completed additional "racetrack quilt" for matchbox cars, which will be donated to our outreach program which distributes dolls and toys to girls and boys with extended stays in hospitals.

Colleen is embarking on this awesome quilt project, which when finished, will combine over 2,000 separate pieces. We know how prolific she is at turning out quilts and dolls, and she never ceases to amaze us!

Donna brought a couple of theme books she decorated with various ephemera. 

Jo is currently working on 65 fabric postcards for her quilt group. They are made from her quilting scraps and recycled items and will be on sale at a future quilting event.

Linda brought these darling Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls to put in the Castro Valley Library display for the month of March. Drop by the library to see the Phoebe display in the foyer.

Cards like these are being requested by the Sunshine committee head, Zanaib. She's hoping you can make some to donate at the next meeting. Help bring a little sunshine into someone's life!

Rosie recently participated in a Valentine's Day postcard exchange and she shared her beautiful cards with us.

Rosie also made this clever display for tiny dolls for the library by covering a book with cloth and attaching the dolls to ribbons.

Sharon is taking an on-line workshop in collage from an artist in France and brought some samples of her latest work, which uses layers of paper, fibers and trims to create depth and texture. Interesting painting and dying techniques are also used. Amazing!

Sharon also displayed two more of her exquisite fabric necklaces using gathered yoyos and photos printed on fabric.

Sue made this wonderful piece of garden art using fabric and liquid Pavorpol, which, when it dries, makes the sculpture waterproof. 

Zanaib has been madly creating wonderful collaged items from mixed media and exchanging them with her friend, Sherrye, in Georgia. How exciting to receive such beautiful items in the mail!

Last, by no means least, is this adorable polymer clay doll Suzanne just completed. Inspired by the workshop she took from Anne, she added a whimsical hairstyle and a mini red cellphone. Perfect size for the tiny doll exhibit!
