Daisy's Workshop

On Monday, July 17, Daisy conducted a workshop on her fantastic figures at the Education Building. Participants could choose from her bird, mouse, or other original patterns. Above are examples of the "Leggy Bird" pattern Daisy displayed for inspiration.

This is a close-up of one of the above.

Harlene chose a colorful batik fabric for her bright and whimsical bird.

Suzanne displayed her bright turquoise and purple bird from the class, as well as three lovely ceramic hearts she recently purchased from Anne at a recent art show in Palo Alto.

Another wonderfully hued bird, shown alongside a workshop mouse (see close-up below).

Above, front left, is Mary's cute workshop bird. Also shown is her newest and amazing tiny doll, complete with hand knitted hat and vest. What size could those knitting needles have been? Also note the large ceramic doll and heart Mary bought from Anne at the Palo Alto Show.

Show and Tell

So happy Jo could make the meeting. She showed us one of her "Damn It" dolls and 12x12 inch fabric quilting squares of "Nasty Women."

Kathy made this cute button doll... perfect for the small doll exhibit coming next year.

Geri shared with us some of the fabric postcards she purchased.

Zoe knitted this great turquoise bag and has been into creating collages like the ones seen here, that have timely and meaningful messages.

Another great example of a tiny doll. The dolls will be due at the September meeting and will be on display at the Castro Valley Library at the beginning of 2018.

Elizabeth has completed her fairy treehouse from the Melissa Tereck workshop. It turned out wonderful! Great job on the shingles and love the addition of the tree from dried eucalyptus.

Colleen never ceases to amaze us! Now that she has a new kiln, she is unstoppable. She unpacked several boxes of assembled figures she has just made. Inspired by Anne's work, and using sheep shears, vintage tins, loom shuttles and other items, each figure became a work of art.

Here's more...

and more...

and more! How does she find the time to do all of this in a month. Plus, she brought more of the race track quilts she made for "stitchin' for kids." Maybe she does not eat or sleep? But then we all do know she can work really fast on her projects.

Marcella brought some of the tiny dolls she has collected. These have such amazing minute details.

Rosie brought her neighbor Shirley to the meeting. We were so happy to meet her and see one of her exquisite water color paintings. We hope she will continue to attend our meetings and inspire us with her artistic talents.

Donna just completed another of her stuffed yoyo necklaces.

She was also inspired by Rosie's wonderful tin creations and made these flat hanging dolls from candy and cookie tins. More things to start collecting for art supplies.

And, she just finished another cloth bird inspired by the Frowning Francis patterns.
